Splish Splash Twist

Desda

 (B. Darin-J.Murray, Portrait BMI)

An Aragon and Therry production

Del-Fi 4174

 March 1962

Co-producer Aragon is Johnny Aragon who had at least 3 "teen" records on Airlok (re-issued on 20th Fox), Dondee and Sound-O-Rama.

Other producer is Nick Therry.  Nick wrote the lyrics of "Too Soon" which was sung by Duke Mitchell (uncredited) in the movie "Bela Lugosi Meets a Brooklyn Gorilla" (1952).   He recorded for Spin-It Records in the mid-fifties, a label he co-owned in Hollywood with Eddie LeBaron.  And in 1956, he was doing some promotion for Bill Haley in the West Coast.

But who was Desda ?

  1. ...and why is there a stamp for Woodman-Chase Car Wash on the picture sleeve? Was she the receptionist there? Was this a freebie given out at the car wash? There's probably an interesting story in there somewhere, but unfortunately we'll never get to hear it.

  2. According to this information from 45cat (http://www.45cat.com/45_list_view_record.php?pagestart=3&ls=date&li=1882), Desda was a hairdresser in Los Angeles who just somehow stumbled into a recording studio.
