"R" SERIES



I'm still searching for the meaning.of this "mysterious" and undocumented record series. It's probably a custom series from a pressing plant.  Los Angeles ? Bay Area ?



Oldest found : the first : Arcadia 106 (1955) #1026/7 (one number/one side)

At some point in 1956, only one number for both sides was used..

Format : 45-R-xxxx, 45-Rxxxx, 45 Rxxxx, 45Rxxxx, 45-R xxxx,  and later : R-xxxx-1/2; R-xxxx-A/B

    1. Thanks Drunkenhobo, but Flat Town Music was a division of Swallow Records, Ville Platte, Louisiana, founded in 1958.

      The R number found on the Rod label would indicate a date of 1956, that rule out any connection with the "R-series".

      I've not updated my list here but I have found several other records in the series, most notably the very rare and excellent Benny Cliff on Drift (Portland, Oregon)
