Ernest L. Batz, Sr., Musician with Dutchman Enterprises, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in all aspects of musical performance.

"High energy" and "toe-tappin'" - just a few of the terms that describe the musical sounds of Ernest L. Batz, Sr., more popularly know as 'The Flying Dutchman.' With an excess of 66 years of professional experience in musical composition and performance, he has truly made an impact on the genre of Western Swing. A one-man band, Mr. Batz plays a myriad of instruments including the accordion, drums and cymbals. He has made multiple appearances on television and radio shows and performed with high-profile musical talent including The Oakridge Boys, Bill Anderson, the Blue Ridge Quartet, Little Jimmy Dickens and Wilma Lee and Stoney Cooper. Active in his local community, Mr. Batz makes frequent appearances at company carnivals, fairs, senior homes and churches, and sings his songs in German, Pennsylvania Dutch and English.

The most disturbing information is that Mr. Batz has no intentions to stop making music. Looking to the future, he intends to record a gospel music DVD.

From Downey California, this young vocal trio (2 girls and a guy) and "Do Yourself A Favor" their original composition written by members Georgia Massey and Dopha Stark was enough to entice record producer, Eddie Davis to take them to Audio Arts Recording Studio in Hollywood, California and release this recording on his Faro Record label in 1959. Eddie also brought in his staff co-producer, Wayne Franklin Corps to assist him with the musical and vocal arrangements. After the release of the record, the group received some local radio airplay and continued to achieve regional success. The Rhythm Rockets also appeared at many high schools and colleges as well as private events in the Southern California area promoting their record for Faro Production and Associated Talent Enterprises.

The A-side written by Clyde Beavers, then emcee of the "Peach State Jamboree" which featured our hero of the day, Jaybee Wasden.

Clyde Beavers, until recently deejay for Johnny Bailes on the Jim Denny-Webb Pierce station WJAT, Swainsboro, Ga., has been named manager of WBRO, Waynesboro, Ga., recently acquired by Denny and Pierce. Beavers launched « Peach State Jamboree » at Nancy Auditorium, Swainsboro, New Year’s Eve with a show comprising Johnny Ferg, Chuck Goddard, Johnny Bailes, Jaybee Wasden and Beavers, plus local talent. The show will be presented once a month, Beavers says. He reminds artists and diskeries that the station is desperately in need of wax. Billboard, Jan. 11, 1960
